Toolmaker
3 Shift Pattern
c£50,000 (including shift allowance)

The Opportunity
This is a Toolmaker role within a high-volume automotive injection moulding environment, working in a well-equipped and structured toolroom where standards are high and output matters. You’ll be part of a close-knit team but trusted to work independently, manage your own workload and deliver to deadlines. This isn’t a role for someone who needs constant direction, it suits a Toolmaker who knows their craft and takes ownership of the tools they work on. If you’re used to working under pressure, fault finding on the fly and keeping production moving, this will feel like a natural fit.
The Role
- Reporting to the Tool Room Shift Coordinator, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and supporting injection mould tooling to ensure consistent production performance.
- Servicing and maintaining injection mould tools in line with TPM schedules.
- Carrying out breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and support production.
- Supporting moulding operations at the press with tool-related issues where required.
- Carrying out minor modifications and continuous improvements to existing tools.
- Working independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards.

- Carrying out tool servicing in line with established procedures.

- Demonstrating strong fault finding and problem-solving ability under time pressure.
- Supporting production directly on the shop floor when required.
- Managing time effectively and maintaining accurate records.
- Using basic computer systems where required.
About You
- Ideally a time-served Apprentice Toolmaker with ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or similar, or a minimum of 5 years hands-on experience within injection mould tooling.
- Strong bench fitting skills with the ability to work to tight tolerances.
- Competent operating milling, turning and grinding machines.
- Confident working independently within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Advantageous Experience
- Knowledge of hot runner systems.
- Experience with mould tool polishing.
- Welding capability including Laser, MIG or TIG.
- Overhead crane certification and safe tool handling experience.
The Package
- Salary circa £50,000 including shift allowance.
- Gold healthcare package.
- £1,200 stakeholder pension contribution.
- Structured shift pattern within a stable, high-volume manufacturing environment.
