Toolmaker
- Shifts: 3 Shifts
- Salary: c£50,000 (including shift allowance)

Introduction
Working a 3-shift pattern in a busy, well equipped toolroom, supporting plastic injection mould tooling in a high volume automotive component production. Although part of a close team, you will be expected to work
independently and to deadlines, sometimes under pressure. You should be a creative thinker and good at problem solving. Strong communication skills are required to be able to report effectively.
Responsibilities in the Toolroom
- Working with minimal supervision, reviewed by the Toolroom Supervisor your role will include:
- Servicing and maintenance of injection mould tools to TPM schedules.
- Repairs to injection mould tools following breakdown.
- Supporting production at the moulding press with repairs / maintenance as required.
- Carrying out minor modifications and improvements to existing injection mould tools
Toolmaker Tasks
- It is expected that you can comply with all health and safety legislation, minimising risk and ensuring that all tasks are completed in a
- safe manner.
- Carry out injection mould tool service by following set procedures.
- Have knowledge of all electrical, hydraulic and water systems on injection mould tools.
- Demonstrate your fault finding and problem-solving ability when working to tight deadlines.
- Work on production injection mould tools in the moulding press where necessary.
- Organise your time effectively & be proficient at record keeping.
- Use a computer (training available if required)
Toolmaker Qualifications and Experience
- Ideally a time served Apprentice Toolmaker with ONC/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- or have a minimum 5 years hands-on experience of plastic injection mould tooling
- Have good bench hand skills
- Can operate milling, turning, and grinding machines competently.
In addition, the following would be advantageous, although training will be given where necessary:
- Knowledge of injection mould hot runner systems
- Mould tool polishing
- Laser/MIG/TIG welding
- Overhead gantry crane certification
- Safe tool handling
