The Opportunity
5S Recruitment is working with a well-established, globally recognised manufacturer within engineered plastics and precision components, looking to strengthen their toolroom with the addition of an experienced Senior Toolmaker. This is a hands-on, technically driven role where tooling is treated as a critical part of the operation, not a support function. You’ll be working in a well-invested environment with the autonomy to take ownership from concept through to production support.

The Role
- As a Senior Toolmaker, you’ll take responsibility for tooling manufacture, maintenance and improvement, supporting both new and existing production requirements.
- Designing and manufacturing jigs, fixtures, electrodes and prototype tooling using toolroom machinery.
- Using CAD/CAM systems for toolpath generation and CNC programming.
- Operating CNC, EDM and conventional toolroom equipment to maintain high standards of precision and quality.
- Carrying out maintenance, repair and modification of complex injection mould tools.
- Supporting production through tooling improvements, fault finding and problem resolution.
- Working closely with engineering and production teams on project-based activities.
- Providing technical support and guidance across the shop floor.
- Supporting training and offering supervisory cover when required.
About You
- Time-served Toolmaker with a minimum of five years’ experience within a toolroom environment.
- Recognised apprenticeship or HNC in a relevant discipline is preferred.
- Strong background in injection mould tool repair, modification and optimisation.
- Experience with CAD/CAM systems and CNC programming.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment.
- High attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
