Our client, a reputable company specialising in plastics and rubber manufacturing, is seeking a skilled Toolmaker to join their dynamic team in Kidlington, Oxfordshire. The ideal candidate will bring a solid background in injection mould toolmaking, coupled with hands-on experience in tool maintenance, repair, and modification, ensuring seamless production operations and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Manufacture, repair, and modify injection mould tools to established specifications and standards.
- Interpret technical drawings, sketches, and engineering specifications accurately.
- Perform precise grinding, surface grinding, polishing, and EDM (Spark Erosion and Wire Erosion) processes.
- Carry out tool fitting, assembly, and rework activities efficiently to meet production timelines.
- Conduct tool inspections and debugging to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all work processes and modifications.
- Support tool trial runs and provide technical input during trial and testing phases.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the toolroom environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an Injection Mould Toolmaker or similar role within a moulding or plastics manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in toolmaking, mould maintenance, repair, and modification.
- Excellent understanding of technical drawings, engineering specifications, and measurement techniques.
- Hands-on experience with surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, polishing, and EDM (Spark Erosion and Wire Erosion).
- Ability to interpret and work from complex engineering drawings and specifications.
- Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience working with injection mould tools and an understanding of mould trial and debugging procedures.
