Project Manager
- Salary: £40,000 – £55,000 depending on experience
- Monday to Friday, days-based role
- Opportunity to work in a structured, quality-focused manufacturing environment
My client, a well-established and growing manufacturing business, is looking to recruit an Engineering Project Manager to support the delivery of engineering projects across a busy, quality-driven production environment. This is a customer-facing role with a strong focus on New Product Introduction (NPI), Engineering Change, and project coordination across multiple departments. This is not a passive project role. You will be expected to drive activity, chase progress, and keep projects moving forward in a hands-on, accountable way.
The Role of Project Manager
As Engineering Project Manager, you will take full ownership of engineering projects from initial concept through to successful release into production. You will act as the central point of coordination between internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring all elements of the project are delivered on time, to specification, and in line with quality requirements. You will be heavily involved in NPI activity, engineering changes, and tooling-related projects, ensuring clear communication, strong stakeholder management, and consistent progress across all workstreams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning, managing, and delivering engineering projects in line with customer and business requirements
- Owning and maintaining project timelines, ensuring milestones and deliverables are achieved
- Driving progress by actively following up with internal teams, suppliers, and customers
- Managing New Product Introduction (NPI) processes from concept through to production release
- Coordinating cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, quality, and supply chain
- Leading regular project review meetings and maintaining clear action tracking
- Managing Engineering Change processes, ensuring timely review, approval, and implementation
- Supporting tooling projects including repair, modification, and coordination with toolrooms and suppliers
- Acting as the main customer-facing engineering contact, providing clear and proactive updates
- Ensuring all technical, documentation, and quality requirements are completed prior to production release
- Supporting quotation and technical review processes where required
The Ideal Candidate for the role of Project Manager
This role requires a strong engineering project professional who understands manufacturing environments and can manage multiple projects simultaneously without losing control of detail or pace. You will need to be confident working across departments, comfortable challenging stakeholders, and capable of keeping projects moving in fast-paced production environments.
Key requirements of a Project Manager:
- Proven experience managing engineering projects within manufacturing or technical production environments
- Strong experience with NPI and Engineering Change processes
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and managing multiple project timelines
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to drive accountability
- Confident customer-facing communication and relationship management
- Experience working within structured quality systems (ISO 9001 / ISO 13485 desirable)
- Strong organisational skills with clear documentation and reporting capability
- Engineering qualification (HND or equivalent)
Desirable:
- Experience within injection moulding or plastics manufacturing
- Exposure to tooling projects or toolroom coordination
- Familiarity with ERP systems for project or engineering tracking
- Formal project management qualification (e.g. APM)
