The Role
5S Recruitment is supporting a well-established manufacturing business in the appointment of a Production Night Setter to join a high-performing night shift operation.
This is a hands-on shop-floor role suited to an experienced setter who is comfortable working independently, maintaining process stability, and supporting continuous improvement in a structured manufacturing environment.
You’ll be responsible for setting, monitoring, and optimising moulding processes to ensure production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements are consistently achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Set machines and processing equipment in line with process specifications
- Load and set mould tools and dies using SMED principles
- Adjust machine settings to maintain stable, repeatable processes
- Use product flow charts to optimise production runs
- Apply moulding concern procedures where process deviations occur
- Carry out process monitoring checks using SPC techniques
- Analyse process data and implement continuous improvement actions
- Support development activities, including new materials, products, and process technologies
- Complete all required production and quality documentation accurately
- Adhere to quality control procedures and standards
- Ensure scrap is removed and handled correctly in line with procedures
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping, health & safety, and PPE compliance
- Follow safe systems of work and equipment safety procedures at all times
Skills & Experience
- Strong mechanical and engineering aptitude
- Proven troubleshooting and fault-finding capability
- Knowledge of polymer materials and processing techniques
- Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Familiar with SPC, FMEA, and SMED methodologies
- Able to work unsupervised on night shift
- Confident working as part of a wider production and development team
- Clear communicator with a disciplined approach to procedures and standards
Qualifications (Essential)
One of the following, or equivalent, combined with relevant industry experience:
- S/NVQ Level 2 – Polymer Processing & Related Operations
- S/NVQ Level 2 – Performing Manufacturing Operations
- S/NVQ Level 2 – Performing Engineering Operations
Engineering Apprenticeship, including:
- Level 2 S/NVQ (e.g. Materials Processing & Finishing)
- Level 2 Technical Certificate (e.g. Production Engineering / Composites)
Shift & Benefits
- 4 on / 4 off night shift (12-hour shifts)
