Maintenance Engineer
A leading UK plastics manufacturer is recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join their established engineering team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role suits someone with solid injection moulding experience who wants a stable shift pattern and a technically diverse workload.

- Salary: £46,568.21 – £49,128.38 (annualised, including shift premium)
- Annual Bonus: Up to £2,000
- Shifts: 4 on 4 off - 2 Days: 07:00–19:00 & 2 Nights: 19:00–07:00
Role Overview – Maintenance Engineer
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will support a high-volume moulding and distribution environment, ensuring equipment reliability, rapid breakdown response, and effective planned maintenance. The role covers mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic and automation systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond quickly and safely to equipment breakdowns.
- Carry out routine, reactive and preventative maintenance on injection moulding machines and robotics.
- Diagnose faults across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Complete calibrations, alignments, component replacements and refurbishment tasks.
- Support the annual Planned Maintenance schedule and TPM routines.
- Overhaul equipment during downtime to reduce repeat faults and improve reliability.
- Install, relocate and commission machinery when required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and oversee contractors when necessary.
- Identify machinery not fit for purpose and propose cost-effective solutions.
- Support production, distribution and wider facility functions when required.
- Ensure all work complies with site Health & Safety procedures and authorisations.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong hands-on background in injection moulding maintenance.
- Good understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems.
- Ability to diagnose and repair faults quickly and methodically.
- PLC and automation experience advantageous.
- Relevant qualification in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Comfortable working a rotating shift pattern.
- Reliable, team-focused, and proactive in improving equipment performance.
