Injection Moulding Setter / Technician – Permanent Nights
Location: Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire
Salary: £30,000 per annum
Hours: 37 paid hours across three nights
Shift: Monday and Tuesday, 5:00pm–6:00am; Wednesday, 5:30pm–6:00am
The Opportunity
5S Recruitment is supporting an established specialist manufacturer in the search for an Injection Moulding Setter / Technician to support its night-shift production team.
The priority is practical troubleshooting: identifying why a machine is producing scrap, correcting the problem and keeping production running consistently. This would suit someone who enjoys working close to the machinery and applying their processing knowledge to everyday production challenges.
The position combines technical support with machine operation, finishing and packing. Tool changes are predominantly completed on days, although night-shift changes may form part of the role depending on your experience.
Key Responsibilities
-
Diagnose moulding and processing problems, making appropriate adjustments to restore consistent production.
-
Support night-shift operators with technical issues and help reduce avoidable machine stoppages.
-
Monitor component quality, identify defects and take corrective action to minimise scrap.
-
Set and adjust machinery within your training and authorisation, supporting tool changes where required.
-
Operate moulding equipment and assist with component removal, trimming, material preparation, finishing and packing.
-
Work to agreed production methods, quality standards and output requirements.
-
Complete production records accurately and communicate technical issues clearly during handovers.
-
Maintain safe working practices and a clean, organised production area.
About You
You will have practical injection moulding experience as a Setter, Technician or similarly skilled production professional.
You should be confident investigating moulding faults, understanding the effect of process adjustments and recognising when an issue requires further support.
We are looking for someone who can:
-
Apply sound setting and troubleshooting knowledge in a production environment.
-
Work independently while supporting colleagues on the night shift.
-
Balance output requirements with component quality and safe working.
-
Remain hands-on with machine operation and associated production duties.
Working Pattern
The established night shift runs across Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, finishing on Thursday morning.
Initial training takes place on days to build familiarity with the machinery, production methods and quality requirements before moving onto nights.
