The opportunity
- My client is looking to strengthen its injection moulding team with the appointment of an experienced Injection Mould Setter.
- Based at its established Northampton manufacturing facility, my client produces high-volume technical rubber and plastic components for recognised customers across the automotive, battery, oil and gas, and consumer-product sectors.
- This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist UK manufacturer that continues to invest in its people, machinery and plastic moulding capabilities.
- The site processes engineering thermoplastics and has expanded its capabilities through investment in modern injection moulding equipment, including 2K and larger-tonnage machinery.
- The company would ideally like to hear from Injection Mould Setters interested in rotating days / afternoons or nights.

The role
As an Injection Mould Setter, you will be responsible for preparing, setting and supporting injection moulding machinery to achieve safe, consistent and efficient production.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Completing mould changes and setting injection moulding machines
- Installing and connecting mould tools and associated ancillary equipment
- Setting processing parameters and bringing machines into production
- Conducting start-up checks and producing components to the required quality standard
- Optimising cycle times, process stability and machine performance
- Identifying and correcting common moulding defects
- Troubleshooting machinery, tooling, material and process-related problems
- Completing material and colour changes
- Setting robots, dryers, temperature-control units and other ancillary equipment
- Working closely with Production, Quality, Toolroom and Maintenance
- Recording machine settings and maintaining accurate production documentation
- Supporting continuous-improvement, scrap-reduction and efficiency activities
- Ensuring all tool changes and machine interventions are completed safely
- Maintaining strong housekeeping and 5S standards
- Supporting and guiding less-experienced members of the production team
Your experience
The successful Injection Mould Setter will ideally have:
- Previous experience setting plastic injection moulding machines within a production environment
- The ability to complete mould changes safely and independently
- Practical knowledge of injection moulding processes and engineering thermoplastics
- Experience troubleshooting moulding defects and process instability
- An understanding of machine parameters, pressures, temperatures, speeds and cycle times
- Experience with robots and common injection moulding ancillary equipment
- A good understanding of quality requirements within a high-volume manufacturing environment
- The ability to read and follow setting sheets, production instructions and quality documentation
- A methodical approach to fault-finding and problem-solving
- A positive attitude towards safety, quality and continuous improvement
- The ability to work independently while contributing properly as part of the wider production team
- Experience within automotive, battery products, technical components, multi-component moulding or another quality-led manufacturing sector would be advantageous.
