Injection Mould Setter / Technician – Fixed Afternoons
Castleford | £18–£20 per hour | Monday–Friday, 1:30pm–10:00pm

5S Recruitment is supporting an established plastics manufacturer in Castleford with the appointment of an Injection Mould Setter / Technician. The business manufactures moulded consumer products, where reliable processing, consistent component quality and efficient production are central to the operation.
This opportunity would suit an experienced Setter or Technician who enjoys practical troubleshooting, takes pride in a well-controlled process and works effectively with production colleagues.
The Working Pattern
Monday to Friday, 1:30pm–10:00pm, with a 30-minute unpaid break.
This provides 40 paid hours per week on fixed afternoons, allowing you to plan around a consistent working pattern.
The Role
You will support the effective running of injection moulding production, combining setting and process adjustment with fault diagnosis and production support.
Key responsibilities will include:

Carry out safe mould changes, machine setups and production start-ups in accordance with site procedures.

Establish and maintain suitable processing conditions to produce components consistently to specification.

Diagnose moulding faults and make controlled adjustments to resolve quality and production problems.

Monitor machine performance, component quality and cycle consistency throughout production.

Identify causes of scrap, downtime and repeat faults, supporting practical improvements.

Complete first-off checks and work with production and quality colleagues to maintain agreed standards.

Support operators with process issues and communicate clear instructions when adjustments are made.

Maintain accurate setting records and provide effective shift handovers.

Escalate tooling, machinery or ancillary equipment faults requiring further engineering support.

Maintain safe working practices, good housekeeping and an organised moulding environment.
Your Experience
We are looking for someone with practical experience as an Injection Mould Setter, Moulding Technician or Process Technician.
You should bring:

Experience setting injection moulding machinery and supporting production start-ups.

A sound understanding of the relationship between processing parameters and moulded component quality.

Confidence investigating defects and resolving process problems methodically.

Knowledge of safe mould handling, tool changes and machine-setting procedures.

The ability to work independently while cooperating closely with operators, quality and engineering colleagues.

A reliable approach to production records, communication and shift handovers.
Relevant injection moulding training or an industry qualification would be advantageous. Your practical setting ability, processing knowledge and approach to problem-solving will be central to the discussion.

Pay and Package
