Injection Moulding Technician
Location: West Midlands
Salary: £35,000 – £48,000 + Bonus + Benefits
Shift: Monday to Friday, 15:00 – 23:00 (30-minute paid break)
My client is a well-established manufacturer supplying specialist plastic products into the UK construction sector. With a strong reputation for quality and consistency, they are now looking to recruit an experienced Injection Moulding Technician to join their production team on a fixed evening shift. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes ownership of machine setting, tool changes, and process stability within a busy, high-volume environment.
The Role of Injection Moulding Technician
As an Injection Moulding Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring machines are set, running efficiently, and producing to the required quality standards. You’ll work closely with process engineering, production, and quality teams to minimise downtime and maintain consistent output.
Key responsibilities of an Injection Moulding Technician include:
- Carrying out full tool changes across injection moulding machines
- Setting and optimising machines to achieve stable production and quality output
- Applying mould protection and ensuring tools are handled correctly during changeovers
- Performing hourly quality checks and maintaining production standards
- Supporting SMED activities to reduce downtime and improve efficiency
- Working closely with Process Engineers and Production Team Leaders to maintain performance
- Following and contributing to process setting sheets and continuous improvement updates
- Updating production systems with tool changes, downtime and process activity
- Restarting machines efficiently following tool or insert changes with minimal scrap
- Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health & safety procedures
- Adhering to SOPs, work instructions and packing requirements
About You
- Proven experience within plastic injection moulding (minimum 3 years)
- Strong background in machine setting, tool changes and process control
- Experience working with recognised injection moulding machinery (e.g. Engel advantageous)
- Exposure to sprue pickers and basic robotics
- Able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Formal injection moulding training (desirable but not essential)
