My client, a long-established manufacturer is looking for an experienced Extrusion Setter to join their Components operation on nights. This is a hands-on technical role focused on machine setting, tooling changeovers, and maintaining stable, high-quality extrusion processes across a busy production environment. THE ROLE
As an Extrusion Setter, you’ll take full responsibility for preparing, running and maintaining extrusion machinery to company standards. You’ll work closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure output stays reliable, accurate and efficient.
Key responsibilities include:
- Setting and operating extrusion machines in line with production specs and safety procedures.
- Installing, aligning and adjusting dies, screws, moulds and tooling.
- Completing machine changeovers for new batches, materials or product types.
- Monitoring machine performance and adjusting parameters to maintain stable production.
- Troubleshooting process, mechanical and material-related issues during runs.
- Ensuring product quality through regular checks and controlling scrap levels.
- Recording production data, machine settings, material usage and downtime accurately.
- Cleaning, lubricating and maintaining equipment to prevent unplanned stoppages.
- Supporting operator training and sharing best practice within the team.
- Promoting a safe working environment through disciplined H&S compliance.
ABOUT YOU
You should be confident working on extrusion machines and capable of diagnosing issues quickly without cutting corners.
Essential:
- 3–5 years’ experience in extrusion or a similar manufacturing discipline.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and solid understanding of extrusion processes.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and production specifications.
- Competent using measurement tools (callipers, micrometres).
- Good communication skills and a steady approach to teamwork.
- Physically fit and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment.
- Flexible to work shifts or overtime when required.
Desirable:
- Forklift licence.
- Experience in plastic tubing, sheet or profile extrusion.
- Exposure to lean manufacturing and 5S workplace organisation.
